HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING IMPROVE SKIN

MDPen rapidly creates a pattern of micro channels in the treatment area. These micro channels significantly increase the production of collagen and elastin to leave the skin smoother, fresher, and more uniform. Micro channels also enhance the skin’s ability to absorb medical grade topicals, like anti-aging serums and skin lighteners, when applied during or immediately after the treatment.

PREPARING FOR MICRONEEDLING TREATMENTS

Prior to your microneedling procedure you will be asked to avoid certain medications and herbal supplements for two weeks. These substances can increase bleeding which in turn will cause bruising.

Before microneedling treatments, patients are asked to avoid taking the following substances for at least two weeks:

  • Any NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen, Aleve®, Motrin®, Advil®, Aspirin®

  • Coumadin

  • Garlic

  • Ginseng

  • Ginkgo Biloba

  • Glucosamine

  • Fish Oil

  • Vitamin E

Avoid applying makeup for a few hours to let the skin breathe and heal itself.

MICRONEEDLING PROCEDURE

All treatments begin with a consultation to discuss your desired results, expectations, and aesthetic goals.  During the initial consultation, we will take a medical history to ensure there will be no adverse reactions to the treatment or procedure.

Microneedling procedures are performed by using an MDPen to make small, controlled injuries to the face, which allow the face to heal itself.

The entire appointment should take approximately one hour, including the time of the consultation.

Afterwards we will give you a handout of things to do or avoid after your treatments.

AFTER RECEIVING MICRONEEDLING

Don’t exercise directly following treatment as this will raise blood pressure and interfere with the product settling properly. Other things that can cause bruising and swelling are using a hot tub, sauna or steam room or any heart rate raising activity.

  • Use cold compresses to reduce swelling.

  • Avoid exposure to intense heat (sun lamp or sunbathing) or cold.

  • Reduce the risk of facial cold sore recurrence that could be caused by needle punctures. Talk with your healthcare professional about medications that may minimize the likelihood of an outbreak.

  • Avoid taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), St. John’s wort or high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

  • Remember to ask about follow-up appointments.

By clearing acne and reducing outbreaks, it reduces the formation of acne scars.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels are a wonderful way to free skin of dirt and incite new cell growth. At Allure Aesthetics in Boca Raton we use Vi Peels by Vitality Institute Medical Products, one of the most trusted pharmaceutical-grade chemical peel producers world-wide.

BOCA RATON CHEMICAL PEELS

The most common reason our clients’ visit us is for facial wrinkles. Skin, similar to any other material, is subject to wear and tear, and absorption of pollutants. Luckily, skin is able to rebuild itself. Because of this, chemical peels are able to work wonders. Peels help to exfoliate the skin and generate brand new skin cells. These old cells are replaced by new ones that are less affected by age and oxidation, for a healthier and more vibrant look.

The chemical peel involves a substance being put on the surface of your skin to advance the disposal of dead skin cells, encourage new cells and boost the regeneration of collagen. This can also be referred to as a chemical exfoliation. The skin will begin to return to its former brilliance that had been lost due to pollutants, sun exposure, and age.

We feel the most cost-effective way to renew and rejuvenate your skin is through a chemical peel. Peeling techniques are not always the best treatment for all wrinkles. We would recommend that some facial wrinkles are treated with one of our dermal fillers or Botox®. However, chemical peels in these areas could compound the anti-wrinkle benefits of such procedures.

 HOW DO PEELS WORK?

The chemical peel involves a substance being put on the surface of your skin to advance the disposal of dead skin cells, encourage new cells and boost the regeneration of collagen. This can also be referred to as a chemical exfoliation. The skin will begin to return to its former brilliance that had been lost due to pollutants, sun exposure, and age.

A chemical peel works when your doctor spreads a chemical evenly across the skin. The chemical reacts with the skin and creates micro damage that causes skin to blister and peel off, thus removing the top layers of skin to allow new tissue to grow more easily. The damage caused to the skin on the one hand removes older skin cells, and at the same time helps stimulate collagen production, in order to heal the skin faster.

WHAT KIND OF PEEL DOES ALLURE USE

VI Aesthetics is the creator of the first painless chemical peel. The aging process can cause your skin to become lax, pigmented and rough. Sun exposure and environmental assault just adds to the problem. Aging is inevitable but the VI Peel can make a difference in as little as 7 days. More than 10 years of experience with satisfied patients across the world

Specifically formulated to rejuvenate aging skin and help prevent future damage.

  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles

  • Restore a more even skin tone

  • Smooths away rough skin texture

A simple, pain-free procedure

A proven treatment protocol that works synergistically with specific VI Derm products to enhance and extend your results.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE VI PEEL, AND HOW DOES IT WORK

The VI Peel is a prescription take-home chemical peel that is administered 1x per day for three days. Although the entire peel process takes 7 days to complete, the actual product is only applied for the first three days.

The VI Peel also comes with a take home kit that includes Post Peel Towelettes, Post Peel Protectant, and VI Derm SPF 50+ to help with healing during the exfoliation process.

VI PEEL TREATMENT AREAS

Chemical peels, in general, are designed to improve the overall condition of the skin, and can usually be used on many areas of the body. However, it’s important to keep in mind that sensitive areas like the eye lids should be avoided because the skin is too thin, and incorrect application, especially if the peel is not performed by a skin care specialist, can lead to serious skin damage. Some areas that are commonly treated with Vi Peel include:

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Hands

  • Chest

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A VI PEEL AND A TRADITIONAL SKIN PEEL?

Unlike other chemical peels, our treatments are virtually painless, require no skin preconditioning and have minimal downtime. VI peels are suitable for exfoliating the face and body. They also have vitamins and minerals which nurture the skin at the same time as it is going through the exfoliation process. These peels are practical, affordable and give excellent results in as little as one (1) week.

Contrary to some harsher skin peels, VI Peels are suitable for a variety of skin types and concerns.

One of the differences between a Vi Peel and other chemical peels is that Vi Peel is contains an anesthetic. This was an attempt to lower patient discomfort during this professional skin care procedure. Patients using Vi Peel usually report feeling a stinging sensation at the beginning of peel, which tends to subside when the anesthetic sets in.

STRENGTHS OF PEELS

With a medium peel, you should expect a social downtime of at least three days, up to a week-and-a-half. You will typically notice peeling and some redness after the treatment. We recommend minimal sun exposure for three weeks following the peel. Our patients respond very well to this level of chemical peel treatment.

HOW MANY VI PEEL TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED

As with most chemical peels, to maintain the effects of treatment, follow-up procedures are recommended every three to four months. In the initial treatment process, patients can undergo Vi Peel treatments every two weeks. However, rigorous use of the Vi Peel is not recommended as a long-term treatment option.

As part of treatment, your doctor or skin care specialist may prescribe a line of professional skin care products that will help you to maintain healthy skin. It normally takes about four days for skin to properly heal from a Vi Peel treatment. During the healing process, skin will slough off and may look flushed or red. You should not put any skin care product on your face besides moisturizer until your skin has completely healed.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING A PEEL

Do not get a Vi Peel if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or anticipating prolonged periods of time in the sun.

DOES THE VI PEEL WORK ON DARKER SKIN TONES? WILL IT LIGHTEN MY SKIN COLOR?

YES, the VI Peel works for darker skin tones! Each person’s skin is unique, however, so you should consult with your practitioner to see if you are a candidate.

The peel is intended to help address discoloration, uneven skin tone, dark spots and pigmentation. The peel may make the skin tone appear lighter, but it is actually returning the skin to its natural tone by removing damage.

PIH – Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation can arise following any chemical peel. The potential for inflammation to instigate the melanogenesis process resulting in pigment deposition. With the darker skin tones it is suggested to apply the post peel protectant provided 10 minutes after using each dark green post peel towelette. (We will explain this further during your consultation.)

WHAT AGES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR THE VI PEEL

The youngest age suggested for the VI Peels is around 12 to 13 years old and can go all the way through mature age ranges. It is always best to check with your medical practitioner to see if you are a good candidate for the VI Peel.

CAN I HAVE A VI PEEL IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING

No. Like many chemical peels, contraindications for the VI Peel include pregnancy or breastfeeding.

AFTER RECEIVING THE VI PEEL

After your Vi Peel you should refrain from activities that raise the body temperature significantly and can induce sweating for 72-96 hours (3-4 days). Inducing excessive perspiration or sweating may cause blistering or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation in the skin.

DOWNTIME

With a medium peel, you should expect a social downtime of at least three days, up to a week-and-a-half. You will typically notice peeling and some redness after the treatment. We recommend minimal sun exposure for three weeks following the peel. Our patients respond very well to this level of chemical peel treatment.

HOW LONG DOES THE PEELING PROCESS LAST

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a brand name cosmetic medication which has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of glabellar lines (lines that form between the brows) on a temporary basis. It is generically known as botulinum toxin. First introduced in 2002 BOTOX® Cosmetic, has a long track record of successfully and safely treating facial wrinkles. Today, millions of cosmetic physicians and patients choose BOTOX® for the treatment of facial wrinkles and lines.

At Allure Aesthetics, with offices conveniently located in Mizner Park, Boca Raton, FL, our certified practitioner, Heather Schwartzmann, PA-C is pleased to offer powerful skin rejuvenation with chemical peels to fight sun damage and visible signs of aging.

Our goal is to work closely with you to assess the condition of your skin and the severity of your photoaging and listen carefully to your concerns and aesthetic goals, in order to create a custom-tailored treatment plan designed to restore and rejuvenate your skin to enhance your youthful glow and vigor!

Cosmelan

Peel

Cosmelan is a depigmenting method with an intensive corrective effect that regulates overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, inhibiting and controlling the appearance of new dark spots. Cosmelan is a chemical peel commonly used to treat facial pigmentation issues like melasma (pregnancy mask) by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme in the melanin formation process. Cosmelan is retinoid based, A Vitamin-A derivative that speeds up cell turnover to improve fine lines and stimulate collagen. This is an exceptional peel to improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.

WHAT IS MELASMA?

Melasma is a common disorder that is often difficult to treat. Like most other complicated skin conditions, a combination of treatments paired with the proper skin regimen works best! Topical de-pigmenting agents such as hydroquinone or other melanin inhibitors along with a topical tretinoic acid to increase skin cell turnover. This commitment along with specific medical-grade chemical peels, appropriate laser treatments and diligent protection, can enhance the likelihood of reducing or resolving melasma.

Some other external and internal factors that may cause hyperpigmentation include:

  • Genetic tendency

  • Sun Exposure

  • Hormonal changes

  • Aging

  • Exposure to chemicals

  • Inflammation

  • Photosensitizing medications

  • Trauma from invasive treatments

THE COSMELAN DEPIGMENTATION PEEL PROCEDURE

The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a two-step process. The first part involves an in-office application of a stimulating mask; part two is the continued application of specific Cosmelan products at home.

Step 1: The In-Office Mask

  • Skin is cleaned and prepped.

  • Cosmelan mask is applied in a thick layer.

  • Mask may lightly sting upon application but will quickly dissipate.

  • Depending on the level of correction needed, the mask must stay on between six and twelve hours.

  • Patient is instructed on when and how to remove the mask at home.

  • An after-care kit will be provided.

Step 2: The Home Care Regimen

  • After the specified time, the Cosmelan mask is removed with a gentle, neutral cleanser.

  • Immediately, the Mesoetetic Hydra-Vital Factor K is applied to comfort the skin and protect moisture.

  • Peeling generally begins two to three days after the mask’s application.

  • Cosmelan II cream should be applied two to three times a day for two weeks.

  • After the first 14 days, Cosmelan II can be applied once daily.

RESULTS FROM THE COSMELAN PEEL

Within a week, patients will notice skin blemishes are beginning to fade, and a brighter a complexion is breaking through. After a couple weeks, the skin will take on a shiny, healthier glow. These results will continue to improve over the fourth or fifth week, when the full benefits of a Cosmelan Peel can be seen.

Patients who commit to a daily routine will see the smooth results from the Cosmelan Peel last for many months to come. The skin will be delicate and sensitive the first two weeks after treatment; prolonged sun exposure should be avoided, and a full spectrum sunscreen worn at all times.

PROVEN RESULTS WITH LATISSE®

Dr. Steve Yoelin, Ophthalmologist, participated as a clinical investigator in the Latisse® clinical study, which was conducted at 16 sites across the country and included 278 people. Throughout the course of the 16-week treatment period, each participant was photographed and evaluated at 4-week intervals (week 0 to week 16) for differences in their overall lash prominence, including length, thickness and darkness. At the end of the 16-week treatment period, the results showed that Latisse® was effective for 78% (107/137) of those participating vs. 18% (26/141) for those in the vehicle group (the vehicle was the same solution as Latisse®, but without the active ingredient).

Specifically, patients treated with Latisse® in the clinical study experienced:

• 25% increase in lash length (vs. 2% for vehicle)
• 106% increase in lash thickness/fullness (vs. 12% for vehicle)
• 18% increase in lash darkness (vs. 3% for vehicle)

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FROM LATISSE®

The most common side effects after using Latisse® solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients in the clinical study. Latisse® solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where Latisse® is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes and redness of the eyelids.

If Latisse® patients develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, they should immediately seek their physician’s advice concerning the continued use of Latisse® solution.

DO’S AND DON’TS OF LATISSE®

  • Do not apply to the lower lid or in the eye and blot excess solution with a tissue.

  • Only use the sterile applicators supplied with Latisse® to apply the product.

  • Don’t allow the tip of the bottle or applicator to touch fingers or any other unintended surface, as contamination by common bacteria is known to cause infections.

  • Remove contact lenses prior to applying Latisse®. Contact lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes afterwards.
