aboutFILLER

Dermal Filler is a form of injectable hyaluronic acid used to provide 6 months to 2 years of correction for moderate to severe areas of the face, such as nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth), glabellar( ’11’ shaped line between the eyebrows), lips(add fullness), jawline(create a firm jawline structure), chin(create a more structured chin), cheeks(lift your cheeks and shed ages in this area).

Filler products are a smooth consistency gel, compared to some hyaluronic gel products that have a granular consistency. Filler products are developed using the Hylacross technology to allow a smoother, malleable gel. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. Hyaluronic acid works by holding in water at the injection site and acting as a cushioning agent. It adds temporary volume and a smoother appearance to skin. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal results.

Some products also contain the local anesthetic lidocaine for a more comfortable injection. Different Filler products contain more highly cross-linked formulations for volumizing and correction of deeper folds and wrinkles.

FILLER PROCEDURE

All treatments begin with a medical history review and a consultation to discuss your desired results, expectations, and to come up with a plan. We will give you a handout of things to do or avoid after your treatments.

Filler is injected into the skin in a simple and quick treatment performed by a licensed healthcare provider using a fine-gauge needle. You can either sit or recline during treatment.

The entire appointment should take less than an hour, including time for a consultation.

FILLER RECOVERY & RESULTS

After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, headache and itching at the injection site or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14–18 days in lips. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years of age, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.

HOW LONG DOES FILLER LAST?

Filler lasts for different lengths of time in different people, depending upon where it is injected. In areas where there is less movement of the skin such as tear troughs and cheeks, Filler will last for nine months to one year. In areas where there is more movement, such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines), Filler tends to last for about six to nine months. The lips have the most movement, and fillers tend to last four to six months in this area.

The results also vary from person to person depending on metabolism, water intake, exercise, vitamins, and various other personal factors.Filler in the jawline usually lasts 12-24months.
